Kelley Proxmire, Inc.
Kelley Proxmire creates pretty yet practical spaces that reflect the way her clients live. Her lifelong passion for interior design started in her parents’ living room: From an early age, she was fascinated by interior design—by the interplay of color, the scale of furniture and the mixing of fabrics. She studied the work of Billy Baldwin, Mark Hampton, Frances Elkins and Michael Taylor. “These influences laid the foundation for my style, which is beautiful yet enduring,” she says.
Proxmire listens to clients, discovering their passions, favorite color combinations, furniture-style preferences and the treasured pieces they want to incorporate. She infuses warmth and personality as well as balance, proportion and scale to each project. Adept at mixing traditional pieces with unexpected finds, she creates environments that are attuned to the client yet remain faithful to the architecture and setting of the home.
Proxmire was named Hall of Fame Designer by Home & Design’s 2016 Designers’ Choice Awards, and was inducted into the Washington Design Center Hall of Fame in 2009. She has participated in 23 show houses during the past 15 years.
